The whereabouts of Akwa Ibom politician and businessman, Obong Amaete Ntuk kidnapped over the weekend is still unknown, his abductors are demanding N50 Million naira as ransom.
A close source to the family, who confided in Vanguard Newspapers in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital on Monday said the hoodlums had earlier demanded for N50 Million but have reversed to N1.5 Million before he could be released.

The kidnap of the former Chairman of Ikot Abasi and wife is coming after a lull was observed in the state for a reasonable period of time but, with the incident on Saturday, the illicit business may have been revived. Meanwhile, Akwa Ibom State Police Command has begun a manhunt for the immediate release of the victims. Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Cordelia Nwawe in a terse reaction to our Correspondent on the telephone said, ‘‘Investigation for his release is in progress’’. Obong Ntuk was reportedly abducted with his wife around 7 PM on Saturday, on his way home from Ibom International Airport after they had attended an event in Abuja last Friday.
The incident, it was reliably gathered occurred around Ekparakwa community in Oruk Anam Local Government, a gateway to Ikot Abasi. Obong Ntuk, it would be recalled was elected Chairman of Ikot Abasi Local Government Area of the State in 1990, under the National Republican Convention (NRC).
